The Department of Physics is seeking to recruit a Lecturer in Biophysics
to undertake internationally leading research in Theoretical Biological
Physics within the Biological Physics and Soft Matter group (BPSM) and
take a lead role in the delivery of high-quality undergraduate and
postgraduate programmes. The appointee will have research interests in
theoretical biophysics with the aim of consolidating and diversifying
existing research within the Department, which currently includes
experimental work in light microscopy (including super-resolution and
fluorescence imaging) and mechanobiology (including single molecule,
single cell and single organoid mechanics and Atomic Force Microscopy
imaging, combined with coarse-grained and all-atom simulations and
theoretical aspects of phase separation. To this end, the areas of
particular interest include, but are not limited to, mechanobiology,
morphogenesis, molecular motors, natural and naturally-inspired
molecular machines, statistical mechanics and bio-inspired active matter.
