"Electro-Mechanical Effects in Single-Electron Molecular Transistors"

Abstract:
The aim of this informal seminar is to review different aspects of 
electron transport
through nano-electromechanical systems, i.e. devices of nanometers size 
in which
coupling between the electrical and mechanical degrees of freedom is 
realized.By
using the simplest model, I will consider the main vibrational effects 
in electronic
normal and superconducting transport, showing comparisons with experiments.
Finally, I will introduce a spectacularvibrational effect called 
electron shuttling which
strongly enhances the current.
