Oggi alle 18:00 Sala Tripcovich: evento organizzato dal Comune di 
Trieste per i giovani. Ingresso libero

Il 10 dicembre, anniversario della Dichiarazione Universale dei Diritti 
dell'Uomo (10-12-1948), il Comune di Trieste organizza una 
serata-incontro dedicata ai giovani, per ribadire che la cultura come 
veicolo di conoscenza reciproca e consapevolezza, è il più efficace 
antidoto per contrastare l'odio e l'intolleranza.

L'ICTP in considerazione della sua missione è stato invitato a 
partecipare a questo evento.

L'incontro si aprirà alle 18.00 con le testimonianze di Don Vatta e 
*Sandro Scandolo*, e contributi dei giovani di varie associazioni e 
delle comunità straniere, incluso Ali Hassanali (ICTP researcher).

Dalle 20:30 spettacoli teatrali e musicali, proiezioni e una mostra 
fotografica allestita nel Foyer nata dal progetto “(S)culture” di *Elisa 
Fratini (CMSP Post-doc ICTP) *con l'hobby della fotografia e insegnante 
volontaria ai corsi d'italiano per stranieri del Centro delle Culture.

“Il progetto – spiega Elisa Fratini - parte dall'idea di ritrarre gli 
studenti del corso d'italiano per stranieri, organizzato dai volontari 
del Centro delle Culture, in collaborazione con l'Arci, e la biblioteca 
Quarantotti Gambini di Trieste. I ragazzi che ho avuto modo di 
incontrare e conoscere sono venuti ad abitare a Trieste per varie 
ragioni. Nonostante abbiano culture e aspirazioni differenti, tutti 
condividono lo stesso desiderio: costruire un futuro nuovo, lontano da 
violenza e discriminazione. La terra che hanno scelto a questo scopo è 
Trieste, per questo ho deciso di rappresentarli accanto ad alcune statue 
ben riconoscibili della città. Se le statue rappresentano la storia, la 
cultura e tutti gli uomini che abitano ed hanno abitato Trieste, i 
ragazzi rappresentano i nuovi abitanti, le nuove storie, le nuove 
culture che ne determinano l'evoluzione e l'arricchimento. Si tratta di 
uno scambio: mentre le statue sembrano interagire con loro e ritornare 
in vita, i ragazzi sentono di avere alle spalle e accanto una città, un 
contesto sociale che li accompagna e li supporta nel loro nuovo percorso 
di vita. Lo (s)cambio di (s)culture continua a rinnovare e trasformare 
Trieste e i suoi abitanti, e fa di questa terra un luogo di convivenza.”


Today at 18:00 at Sala Tripcovich: An event organized by the 
Municipality of Trieste for young people.

Onthe anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (10 
December 1948), the Municipality of Trieste is organizing an event for 
young people, to reiterate that culture as a vehicle of mutual knowledge 
and understanding is the most effective antidote to counter hatred and 
intolerance. In recognition of its mission, ICTP has been invited to 
participate in this event. Entrance is free.

18:00: debate opened by Don Mario Vatta (Comunità di Accoglienza San 
Martino al Camposince 1970) and Sandro Scandolo, with contributions of 
young people from various associations and foreign communities, 
including ICTP researcher Ali Hassanali.

20:30: theatrical and musical performances, film screenings and a 
photographic exhibition titled (S)cultures by Elisa Fratini (CMSP 
postdoc), a hobby photographer and volunteer teacher of Italian for 
foreigners.


"The project (S)cultures - explains Elisa - portrays the students of the 
Italian language course for foreigners, organized by volunteers of the 
Center of Culture, in collaboration with the Arci, and the library 
Quarantotti Gambini in Trieste. Young women and men who came to live in 
Trieste for different reasons. Although they have different cultures and 
aspirations, they share the same desire: to build a new future, away 
from violence and discrimination. The place they have chosen to do this 
is Trieste, so I decided to represent them next to some easily 
recognizable statues in the city. If the statues represent the history 
of Trieste, its culture and all people who live and have lived here, the 
young people are the new residents, new stories, new cultures that 
determine the town's evolution and enrichment. It is an exchange: while 
the statues seem to interact with them and come back to life, portrayed 
people feel they have behind and next to them a town, a social context 
that accompanies them and supports them in their new life path. The 
exchange of (S)cultures keeps renewing and transforming Trieste and its 
inhabitants, and makes it a place of coexistence. "
