A R T & E X H I B I T I O N S
New exhibitionin Galleria Lipanjepuntin Arte Contemporanea, via Diaz 4
entitled U2 & iby the photographer Anton Corbijn. A series of shots of
the rock band taken over the years. Open until 11 April 2006 Tue-Fri

Exhibitionof over forty photographs taken during a journey to Tibet in
2004 by Fulvia Fornasaro, Quelli piu' vicini al cielo, can be visited
in the Sala Mostre Fenice in Galleria Fenice 2 until 3 March 2006.
Ongoing until 30 Aprilin via Carducci 12 is the exhibition entitled
"L'educazione spezzata"dedicated to the Jewish schools in Trieste and
Fiume during the period prior to the outbreak of the II World War. Open
Mon., Tue. and Thur. from 10.30-16.30, Wed. and Fri. from 8.30-14.30
and Sun. from 11.30-17.30. Guided tours of the exhibition can be booked
on 040-633819.
The exhibitionentitled "Il tempo della Scuola"documents the history of
local nursery and primary schools in Trieste from 1841 onwards. It can
be visited in the Sala di Palazzo Costanzi in piazza Piccola, 2 from
Monday-Saturday from 10-13 and 16-20 and on Sunday from 10-20.
Exhibitionof paintings by Claudio Bonanni at the Galleria Rettori
Tribbio 2 in piazza Vecchia 6. The paintings are joyous representations
of Mediterranean life in a post-impressionist style. Open until 24
February from 10-12.30 and 17-19.30 weekdays and 11-12.30 on
Sundays. Closed on Monday.
An exhibitionentitled "Una Citta' a bordo"traces Trieste's traditional
link with cruise ships over the past 90 years. Open every day from
10-19 in the Sala del Ridotto at the Teatro Verdi.
C H I L D R E N's A C T I V I T I E S
L'Immaginario Scientifico
This science museum (located on the ground floor level of the Adriatico
Hotel, entrance at the rear of the hotel, opposite the 36 bus stop) has
exhibits which are particularly suitable for children.
A children's laboratory will be held on Sunday from 15.45-16.45 for
those aged 4-7 and from 15:30-17:00 for 8-11 year olds. This Sunday,
both groups will be making bubbles. You can book by e-mail at

C O N C E R T S
Casa della Musica
At 21:00 on Friday 17 February, there will be a concert entitled Mina
Project at the Casa della Musica in via Capitelli 3. The classic songs
of the famous Italian singer will be performed by the Lorena Favot and
Rudy Fantin Jazz Trio.
Teatro Miela
On Sunday 19 February 2006 at 18:30 at the Miela Theatre, piazza Duca
degli Abruzzi, there will be a show entitled "MiciAmici". After some
musical performances, there will be a charity auction of the pictures
of cats which were on display at the recent exhibition ".. per i gatti,
adorati gatti". Margherita Hack will be present as a testimonial for
the evening.
C U L T U R E
Museo dell'Antartide - Museum of the Antarctic
Located in San Giovanni park, via Weiss 21, at this museum you can see
reconstructions of Amundsen's tent and Shackleton's ship, as well as
all sorts of interactive exhibits documenting various expeditions to
the Antarctic. Open every day except Tuesday from 9-13 and 15-19. A
guided tour is included in the price of the ticket. Info. on

F L E A M A R K E T
On Sunday 19 February 2006, there will be the monthly flea market in
Trieste town centre. All sorts of antiques and bric a brac will be on
sale all day in the roads of the old town behind Piazza della Borsa
near the Roman Theatre (Teatro Romano).
S P O R T
Ice-Skating
An ice-skating rink is open at the Fiera buildings until the end of
March in piazzale de Gasperi (bus 18 from piazza della Borsa). Opening
hours will be Monday-Friday 14-22 and Saturday and Sunday 10-22. The
cost is 6 euro (including hire of skates) or 3 euro if you take your
own skates.
T O U R S
Trieste by Bus
Every Saturday a bus leaves for a tour of Trieste from in front of the
train station at 14.00. It takes in all of the main sights to see
downtown, and there is also a 30-minute stop at St. Giusto Castle,
where you can walk along the Castle walls or visit the Cathedral or
simply enjoy the spectacular views. Tickets may be bought in the Sala
Eurostar in the main railway station and cost 5.20 Euro, with children
under 10 travelling free.
