Free-time activities
A R T & E X H I B I T I O N S
In Palazzo Costanzi (piazza Piccolo,2), there is the travelling Arts
Olympiad exhibition, organized by the Comune di Trieste and the Carpe
Diem Association. On display are a hundred drawings by children from
all over Italy, entitled "Il mio sport preferito" (My favourite sport).
Open until 30 April, each day from 10-13 and 17-20.
Photographic Exhibition in the Museo Sveviano (piazza Hortis 4)
entitled "Se hai tempo fatti fotografare" (If you have time have your
photo taken). A photographic biography of Italo Svevo. Open until 11
September 2006 Mon-Sat 10-13 and Sunday 10-12. Free entrance.
Exhibition in the ballroom of the Revoltella Museum (via Diaz, 27)
entitled "Preview - Andy Warhol's Timeboxes". Open until 18 July 2006
as an introduction to the main exhibition which will open on 21 July in
the renovated fish market (ex-pescheria) in Trieste. E-mail

display here are part of the "Campbell's soup" group, dedicated to
industry in Pittsburgh, Warhol's home town, which was a recurring
source of inspiration in his work.
C H I L D R E N's A C T I V I T I E S
L'Immaginario Scientifico
This science museum (located on the ground floor level of the Adriatico
Hotel, entrance at the rear of the hotel, opposite the 36 bus stop) has
exhibits which are particularly suitable for children.
A children's laboratory will be held on Sunday from 15.45-16.45 for
those aged 4-7 and from 15:30-17:00 for 8-11 year olds. This week both
groups will be making minigolf. You can book by e-mail at

exhibition which has just opened, and will last until 18 June,
entitled: Viaggiando Immaginando.
Bimbinpiazza
On Sunday 30 April from 9:00 in Piazza S. Antonio in Trieste town
centre there will be lots of activities going on for children,
including mini-volleyball, table-tennis, micro basketball, football,
climbing, tennis, workshops, street games, dancing, music etc.
C I N E M A
If you want to see a film in English, the cinema Cinecity at the Torri
d'Europa shopping centre (bus number 8 from the station) offers one or
two films per week which you can hear in the original language by means
of a pair of headphones provided by the cinema upon request.
F A I R S & M A R K E T S
Alpe-Adria Pen Show
At the Stazione Marittima on the waterfront in Trieste there will be
the tenth edition of the fair with the chance to see and exchange pens
of all kinds, mostly fountain pens on Sunday 30 April. In conjunction
with the fair, there will be an exhibition opening on Saturday 29 May
at 17:30 in the Sala Comunale d'Arte in piazza Unita' entitled
"Parker-Waterman" about the lives of the founders of two of the most
famous brands of pen.
M U S I C & C O N C E R T S
Radiofragola Party
On Saturday, Sunday and Monday there will be a big muscial event at the
baseball ground in Prosecco organized by Radiofragola. More

N A T U R E
Carsiana Botanical Garden
The Carsiana botanical garden, which offers visitors a beautiful
selection of the typical local fauna, to be found among the vegetation
in Carso (karst) has opened to the public for the season. It will also
be open on 1 May from 10-13 and 15-19. You can find all the
information you need on their very helpful website (including the bus

S P O R T
"Talenti sport e motori" in Sistiana
On Saturday, Sunday and Monday, each day from 10:00-19:00, Sistiana Bay
(which can be reached by APT blue bus 51, or the orange 44 from Piazza
Oberdan), will be transformed into a racetrack for motorbikes,
go-carts, vintage cars, mini-motorbikes and Ferraris. Each evening
there will also be live music and djs until midnight.
T O U R S
Trieste by Bus
Every Saturday a bus leaves for a tour of Trieste from in front of the
train station at 14.00. It takes in all of the main sights to see
downtown, and there is also a 30-minute stop at St. Giusto Castle,
where you can walk along the Castle walls or visit the Cathedral or
simply enjoy the spectacular views. Tickets may be bought in the Sala
Eurostar in the main railway station and cost 5.20 Euro, with children
under 10 travelling free.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS MONDAY, 1 MAY, ENTRANCE TO MANY LOCAL MUSEUMS AND
ART GALLERIES (INCLUDING MIRAMARE CASTLE) WILL COST ONLY 1 EURO ON THE
OCCASION OF THE LABOUR DAY HOLIDAY.
