Free-time activities
A R T  &  E X H I B I T I O N S

In Palazzo Costanzi (piazza Piccolo,2), there is the travelling Arts 
Olympiad exhibition, organized by the Comune di Trieste and the Carpe 
Diem Association.  On display are a hundred drawings by children from 
all over Italy, entitled "Il mio sport preferito" (My favourite sport). 
  Open until 30 April, each day from 10-13 and 17-20.
In the gallery Atelier degli Artisti (viale XX Settembre, 43/b) the art 
exhibition "Paesaggi del Triveneto" (Landscapes of the Triveneto 
Region) with paintings, sculptures and graphics by 32 artists from the 
north east of Italy will be open until 26 April.
At the "Acquamarina" swimming pool (molo F. Bandiera, 1) there is an 
exhibition of photographs entitled "Sale e saline: ieri e oggi" about 
the history of the salt and the nearby salt marshes of the Adriatic 
which have played an important part in the local economy and culture.  
Free entrance.
Photographic Exhibition in the Museo Sveviano (piazza Hortis 4) 
entitled "Se hai tempo fatti fotografare" (If you have time have your 
photo taken).  A photographic biography of Italo Svevo.  Open until 11 
September 2006 Mon-Sat 10-13 and Sunday 10-12.  Free entrance.
Exhibition in the ballroom of the Revoltella Museum (via Diaz, 27) 
entitled "Preview - Andy Warhol's Timeboxes".  Open until 18 July 2006 
as an introduction to the main exhibition which will open on 21 July in 
the renovated fish market (ex-pescheria) in Trieste.  E-mail

display here are part of the "Campbell's soup" group, dedicated to 
industry in Pittsburgh, Warhol's home town, which was a recurring 
source of inspiration in his work.

C H I L D R E N's  A C T I V I T I E S
L'Immaginario Scientifico
This science museum (located on the ground floor level of the Adriatico 
Hotel, entrance at the rear of the hotel, opposite the 36 bus stop) has 
exhibits which are particularly suitable for children.
A children's laboratory will be held on Sunday from 15.45-16.45 for 
those aged 4-7 and from 15:30-17:00 for 8-11 year olds.  This week the 
little ones will be making flying objects, while the older group will 
make weather stations.  You can book by e-mail at

exhibition which has just opened, and will last until 18 June, 
entitled: Viaggiando Immaginando.

C I N E M A
If you want to see a film in English, the cinema Cinecity at the Torri 
d'Europa shopping centre (bus number 8 from the station) offers one or 
two films per week which you can hear in the original language by means 
of a pair of headphones provided by the cinema upon request.

F A I R S  &  M A R K E T S
Record Fair
At the Palasport di Chiarbola on Sunday 23 April from 10-19:30 there 
will be a record fair where you can buy and exchange LPs, Cds, DVDs, 
videos, magazines and even musical instruments.

M U S I C  &  C O N C E R T S
Brazilian Party
On Friday 21 April at 21, there will be a Brazilian Party at the Bar 
Costa (viale XX Settembre, 24) with live music.
Rolling Stones Tribute
On Friday 21 April at 21 at Corsia Stadion (via Battisti, 8) there will 
be a tribute night to the Rolling Stones by the band Tumbling Dice.

N A T U R E
Carsiana Botanical Garden
The Carsiana botanical garden, which offers visitors a beautiful 
selection of the typical local fauna, to be found among the vegetation 
in Carso (karst) will be open to the public this Sunday 23 April 2005.  
There will be guided tours and entrance will be a nominal 2 euro.  You 
can find all the information you need on their very helpful website 
(including the bus route to take you there, opening times etc.) which

T O U R S
Trieste by Bus
Every Saturday a bus leaves for a tour of Trieste from in front of the 
train station at 14.00.  It takes in all of the main sights to see 
downtown, and there is also a 30-minute stop at St. Giusto Castle, 
where you can walk along the Castle walls or visit the Cathedral or 
simply enjoy the spectacular views.  Tickets may be bought in the Sala 
Eurostar in the main railway station and cost 5.20 Euro, with children 
under 10 travelling free.

T R I P S
Gorizia
This weekend there is lots going on in nearby Gorizia.  Apart from the 
ongoing exhibition in the beautiful Palazzo Attems-Petzenstein (piazza 
Edomondo de Amicis 2) until 2 June, entitled "Caleidoscopio Missoni", 
which documents the history of the Missoni family, world-famous for 
their textiles, there will also be the annual Fiera di Gorizia (Fair) 
from 22-25 April, open from 10-22 with free entrance and over 100 
stands to visit.  On both Saturday and Sunday at Gorizia Castle there 
will be a great event for families.  You can see  a re-enactment of 
life in the XIIIth Century with people in costumes of the period, 
displays of archery and birds of prey and falcons.  From 14-21 on 
Saturday 22 April and 10-20 on Sunday 23 April.  In the evening, as 
part of the Gorizia Jazz festival there will be a concert in the 
Auditorium in via Roma by the Spanish singer/guitarist Antonio Placer 
as well as the Brazilian guitarist Cristina Azuma and the French 
pianist, Jean-Marie Machado.  More information from 347-4421717.
