Dear colleagues,

this is to advertise the weekly seminar of the Algebra and Geometry
group of the University of Trieste. On Friday, February 5th at 10:30,
Andrea Petracci (FU Berlin) will talk about "Deformations and moduli of
Fano varieties".

Abstract: Fano varieties are complex projective varieties with "positive
curvature". They have a prominent role in algebraic geometry for many
reasons, there are very few of them, they constitute the basic building
blocks of algebraic varieties. In this talk I will explain how their
complex structure deforms and how it is possible to construct singular
points in the moduli space of K-polystable Fano varieties (i.e. Fano
varieties admitting a Kähler-Einstein metric). This is joint work with
Anne-Sophie Kaloghiros.

The seminar will take place online. The Zoom link is

You are welcome to extend the invitation to anyone interested.
