Commission appoints independent Search Committee and invites nominations 
and applications to fill the post of the next President of the ERC
Commissioner Mariya Gabriel today welcomes seven experts as members of 
the Search Committee for the next President of the European Research 
Council (ERC). The independent Search Committee will make 
recommendations to the Commission on the best candidates for this 
prestigious post on the basis of a consultation of the scientific 
community and an open call for applications.

Mariya Gabriel, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, 
Education and Youth, said:

/I am very pleased that Professor Helga Nowotny has accepted to chair 
the Search Committee for the next European Research Council President. I 
have faith that this Committee of high-level scientists will provide us 
with a well-considered shortlist of the very best candidates for this
