Results of the Consolidator Grants published

The ERC announced the names of the scientists who applied for a
Consolidator Grant in the 2020 call on 9 December 2020.
Out of 2506 submitted proposals, 327 projects can be funded by ERC
Consolidator Grants with a total of 655 million Euros. Success rate is
13 %.
In terms of the location of the funded projects, Germany is on a par
with Great Britain with 50 ERC Consolidator Grants. France (34 grants)
and the Netherlands (29 grants) follow at some distance. For the first
time a project located in the Ukraine is included.
With regard to the nationality of the funded researchers, Italy is in
the lead with 47 grants, followed by German (45 grants), French (27
grants) and British (24 grants) researchers.
The share of female researchers funded in this call is 37%. The overall
success rate for female applicants is 14.5%, which is significantly
higher than the success rate of 12.6% for male applicants.
ERC Consolidator Grants are associated with a maximum funding of 2.0
million Euros (in exceptions up to 3.0 million) per project. They are
aimed at excellent researchers whose own independent research group is
in the consolidation phase. The consolidation of their own research team
will be funded with the grant. The opening of the next call for the ERC
Consolidator Grant is planed 21 January 2021 (deadline for submission:
20 April 2021). (Subject to the adoption of the new ERC Work Programme
2021 under Horizon Europe).

ERC projects in CORDIS results package on Green Deal

With the European Green Deal, the EU Commission aims to make the entire
EU CO2-neutral by 2050. This ambitious goal requires innovative basic
research, as supported by the European Research Council. To achieve
this, cutting-edge research and technological development in various
fields must be promoted. In this context, the CORDIS Results Package
highlights 15 ERC-funded projects that contribute to achieving Europe's
green and sustainable future.

/Tentative call dates for 2021 published on the ERC website/
The ERC has published preliminary dates for the first calls for
proposals under the new Framework program for research and innovation
Horizon Europe on its website. These dates are still tentative. The
official dates will be published in the 2021 Work Program. The call
timeframe e.g. for Starting and Consolidator Grants may still be
postponed by a few weeks. Nevertheless, preliminary applications can be
prepared on the basis of the Horizon 2020 documents. However, the
