QUANTITATIVE LIFE SCIENCES GUEST SEMINAR

Tuesday, 14 May 2019 at 14:00,
ICTP, Central Area, 2nd floor, old SISSA building, via Beirut 2

Speaker: Diego Alberici - Department of Mathematics, Università di Bologna

Title:  Monomer-dimer models on random graphs

Abstract:
I will introduce monomer-dimer models, an example of Statistical
Mechanics models on graphs characterized by hard-core interaction. A
great contribution in this field was given by Heilmann and Lieb, who
proved the absence of phase transitions under very general hypothesis.

In the second part of the talk I will focus on monomer-dimer models on
sparse random graphs, which can be solved exactly by means of a cavity
method and rigorously thanks to a family of correlation inequalite
