Professor Fabrizio Catanese (Univ. Bayreuth) will give next week, 3-7 
December, 2018, a series of lectures on

ALGEBRAIC SURFACES IN THREE DIMENSIONAL SPACE AND THEIR SINGULARITIES

at the Scuola Superiore of the University of Udine for a total of 8 hours.

PROGRAM: Algebraic surfaces: cubic surfaces, Cayley cubic, the lines 
contained in the smooth surfaces. Del Pezzo surfaces and their 
representations, symmetries and equations. The Cremona involution and 
the complete quadrangle. The dual surface and limits on the 
singularities. Examples of biduality: Steiner Roman surface dual to the 
Cayley cubic. Segre method and the autodual Kummer surfaces with many 
symmetries. Nodal surfaces with many nodes and binary codes: the case of 
degree less than or equal to 5.
