SEMINAR ANNOUCEMENT
Wednesday march 19 at 16.00 in lecture room 136 dr. Michele Correggi,
Universita' di Roma, will give a seminar on
"Low Temperature Thermodynamics of the Ferromagnetic Heisenberg Model"
Abstract: We first define the three-dimensional quantum Heisenberg model
and discuss its thermodynamic properties as well as the phenomenon of
spontaneous magnetization. Focusing on the ferromagnetic case, we
introduce the spin-wave bosonic representation and review some recent
results about the rigorous proof of the correctness of the spin-wave
approximation in the evaluation of the free energy of the model.

This seminar will be the first of a regular series of seminars, to be
held every second week, on mathematical problems in Quantum Mechanics.
The subjects of the first few seminars will be somehow related to the
the themes of the conference "Solid Math" (Mathematics for Solid State
Physics) that will be held in Sissa June 16-18 2014.
In general the seminars will be given by visitors and will cover several
analytical (and topological) aspects of Quantum Mechanics. The seminars
are aimed at young researchers in Mathematical Physics and Analysis.
Previous knowledge of Quantum Mechanics is not required, but curiosity
is compulsory.
At the end of this first seminar a discussion will be suggested on the
timing (day and hour) of the future seminars in the series.
