"Persistent homology"

Abstract:

This an introductory talk based on the paper "Topology and data" by G. 
Carlsson of a possible series of lectures. Persistent homology is a 
recent theory developed for qualitative analysis of large data sets with 
applications to biology, medicine, image recognition, etc.
