The FP7 DOPAMINET Consortium is organizing the 2012 DOPAMINET Summer School on 19-20 July 2012 in Trieste at SISSA - International School for Advanced Studies. The theme and focus of the Summer School will be on dopaminergic neurons, Alzheimer and Parkinson's disease. 

The Summer School goals are: 
• to inspire and train early stage researchers active in the brain-related disease and aging area taking the advantage of intensive training on new and emerging subjects, and learning about tomorrow’s avenues of opportunity. 
• to raise awareness of the recent research advances in the field of dopaminergic neurons and technologies for improving therapeutically approaches to fight Alzheimer and Parkinson Diseases. 
• to promote greater participation in international dialogue and exchange and, by doing so, to strengthen alliance with patients and care-takers organizations and Policy Makers committed in shaping evidence based policies on active and healthy aging locally, nationally and internationally. 

The summer school is conceived as a focused and multi-disciplinary networking platform to access the highest level of expertise from leaders in the neurobiology field. The Summer School includes a plenary lecture from Prof. Moussa B.H. Youdim on “Why multi-target neurorestorative drugs for Parkinson’s disease, an alternative to stem cell therapy”. A round-table with Health Policy Makers and stakeholders like industries and patient organizations is also planned.
