"Projective normality of finite group quotient varieties and the EGZ
theorem"

Professor S. Senthamarai Kannan
(Chennai Mathematical Institute, India)

Abstract:
Let $G$ be a finite group of order $n$. Let$V$ be a
finite dimensioanl representation of $G$ over $\bc$. Let $L$ be
the descent of the line bundle $\mathcal{O}(1)^{\otimes n}$.
We show that the polarised variety $(G\\bp(V), L)$ is projective
normal if either $G$ is solvable or $G$ is generated by pseudo
reflections. In this proof, we use the combinatorial result of
Erd{\o}s-Ginzburg-Ziv. We then show projective normality
for solvable groups usic toric algebra and deduce EGZ result
as a consequence.
