Next Monday the following course will start:

Dr. Claudio Fontanari (Politecnico di Torino):

"Algebraic curves and moduli"

This course, mainly aimed at Master and PhD students,
will be devoted to a gentle introduction to the
beautiful geometry of projective curves and their
families. Of course the program can be adapted to
the needs of participants, but the idea is to start
from the very basics (covered for instance in
Chapter IV of Hartshorne's book) and then move
towards more advanced topics such as Brill-Noether
theory, embedded curves and Hilbert schemes,
moduli spaces and their algebro-geometric and
topological properties.

The course will start with the next Colloquium
on Monday 12 May, 14:30, SISSA Room D

Then, a tentative schedule is
Monday 11-13
Tuesday 11-13
Wednesday 11-13

Room C, from May 13 to June 11.
