"On the local index formula in bivariant cyclic cohomology"

Abstract: We give a zeta-function construction of the bivariant Chern
character in cyclic cohomology, generalizing Higson's approach of the
Connes-Moscovici local index formula. The analogy with anomalies arising
from quantum field theory will be discussed. As an example, we state an
equivariant index theorem for proper actions of countable groups on
riemannian manifolds
