The parameter you want to change is hist_nhtfrq in the namelist clm_inparm.
To have daily output you should set this to 24 (it is in hours). We have
not digged n deep in the parameters, you may want to have a look in the
CLM4.5 User Guide. Some we have hardcoded (data path especially), some may
be not relevant to the RegCM+CLM.

If the model does not crash, it should not be fatal. The problem here is
that we initialize the snow over the Himalaya using temperature and
elevation as a proxy (mod_clm_mkarbinit.F90, subroutine mkregcminit), and
this may cause inconsistencies especially in the first season for the
snow.
If you have a good snow dataset to make initialization, you can push it to
CLM in the DOMAIN file in the snowam field.
