Currently I am working at my Master Thesis, which is embedded in the research project "Influence of Grazing, Soil, Relief and Climate Chance on the Biodiversity of Asinara National Park (Sardinia)". The project is in collaboration with the National Park of Asinara.

Later on, based on this data, the possible future climate development for Asinara should be modelled. As a working climate model is required for this Project, I looked for this and came across the RegCM4 climate model. By inquiring the ICTP for more Information, they referred me to you.

Further I need to know if is it even possible to run the model on a normal computer or if the capacity would be much too low for this purpose. And is the RegCM4 even suitable for the region of Italy/Sardinia/Asinara?

Model is Free Software, and is available from the ICTP gforge site
http://gforge.ictp.it
I am anyway not sure that it is an easy tool for your research. I would point
you to the Med-CORDEX project site
http://www.medcordex.eu
where you can find datasets for impact studies over the Med region after
registering:
http://www.medcordex.eu/medcordex_register.php
or also to the Climate4Impact site:
http://climate4impact.eu/impactportal/data/basicsearch.jsp
where you can find output of simulations you can extract data for future
projection of physical variables at the surface.
If you need to run the model, than you can download the RegCM and follow the
tutorial in the Document section.
Ciao!
