[RegCNET] Cloud Optical Thickness (RegCM4)

Dear regcneters
Has anybody tried to calculate cloud optical thickness from the RegCM 
output?
Practically there is an approximate simplistic relation between the 
effective radius (Re), the liquid water path (LWP) and the cloud optical 
thickness (COT)
COT= (3/2)(LWP/Re)
However in the RegCM output list there is information only for the LWP 
but not for the Re which varies with the cloud type.
I look forward for any hint on this topic.
