Dear Hassan,
I think if you use the last version of GTOPO_DEM_30s.nc (with size 222M) whichs in netcdf-4 format you need to install netcdf with hdf5 to be able to read the netcd-4 format.

Subject: [RegCNET] Problem in test simulation
Hi
Dear RegCM users
I try to run the RegCM 4.3.5.6 but failed at test simulation with following error
[dupf at ln0 RF]$ ./bin/terrain regcm.in
This is Terrain part of RegCM package version 4
SVN Revision: tag 4.3.5.6 compiled at: data : Jun 21 2013 time: 11:02:23
: this run start at : 2013-07-05 17:44:32+0800
: it is submitted by : dupf
: it is running on : ln0
: in directory : /home/dupf/RegCM-4.3.5.6/RF
Doing Grid with following parameters
iy = 100
jx = 128
ds = 50.0000000000000
clat = 23.0000000000000
clon = 78.0000000000000
iproj = ROTMER
Grid setup done
Geo mapping done
Calculated large extrema:
MINLAT = -2.00000000000000
MAXLAT = 45.0000000000000
MINLON = 41.0000000000000
MAXLON = 115.000000000000
Determined Grid coordinate range
Using resampling at 12 minutes.
Opening ./DATA/SURFACE/GTOPO_DEM_30s.nc
NetCDF: Unknown file format
mod_rdldtr.F90 : 139:NetCDF Error: -51
abort: Fortran Abort Called
