Hi Michael!
For each vegetation type the minimum (xlai0) and maximum values (xla) of
LAI are prescribed in mod_bats_param.f90.
In BATS the LAI is varying between its minimum and maximum value. The
variation is described with a seasonal function, which is based on
temperature.
This seasonal function is set to temperate climate (it is zero when the
temperature is =<0, and it reaches its maximum value (=1) at 25 Celsius and
remains at its maximum at higher temperatures). LAI is computed in
mod_bats_bndry.F90 (~l300), and the seasonal function is set in
mod_bats_leaftemp.f90 (fseas).
Cheers,
Csaba
