The First International Workshop on the Long-Range Transport and Impacts of African Dust on the Americas is to be held on 6-7 October 2011 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This workshop will provide a scientific forum for specialists on topics related to the transport and impacts of mineral dust in the atmosphere; the emphasis however will be on African dust and its transport and impacts on the Americas.There will be emphasis on the following topics    - Characterization of dust properties 
    - Transport, deposition, and heterogeneous reactions 
    - Impact on climate, health, and ecosystems
