Title ASSOCIATE SCIENTIST
Employing Department Agronomy
Appointment Conditions: Term, 12 Months, Full Time, Appointment ending
one year from start date with possibility of renewal.
Proposed Start Date: November 2009
Job Description
This is a full time position to conduct, publish, and obtain funding for
research projects in climate modeling and analysis. The incumbent will
direct, design, manage research into climate and climate change on
scales from seasonal forecasts to decades. The incumbent will write
research grants for external funding and will publish research in
refereed journals.
Required Qualifications
PhD in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or closely related discipline
and two years of related experience; a strong record of publishing
inpeer reviewed journals; at least one proposal for external funding
submitted to a Federal agency; experience in implementation and use of
regional climate models including the Regional Spectral Model;
experience with large-scale computing in parallel environments.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with data assimilation of in climate models.
Salary: Minimum $52,950; commensurate with qualifications
Special Conditions
