[RegCNET] precipitation

Dear RegCM Users,

We are using RegCM3.1 (latest version) driven by ERA40 1.0 degree
resolution ICBC data for a European subregion containing the Carpathian
Basin and Hungary.

Our grid resolution is 10 km.

In the precipitation pattern we found big biases as compared to the CRU
TS1.2
data, especially during summer (convective events cause too much
precipitation). We tried to use both Emanuel and Grell convective schemes,
but the result was quite the same: the precipition was overestimated by
the model with a factor of about 2. Finally we decided using Grell
(Fritsch&Chappell) scheme.

But on the other hand the temperature pattern seems to be correct.

We suspect that the 10 km resolution causes this overestimation in the
precipitation pattern.
Do anybody have any experience with 10 km resolution run?
Do anybody have some experience working with ERA40 1.0 degree resolution
dataset(RegCM)?

Any suggestion is welcome!

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,
Csaba
