Dear colleagues,

The romantic legend of the prodigious mathematician Évariste Galois,
killed at age 21 during a fatal duel on 29 May 1832, heralds the opening
of the 2017 Trieste Science+Fiction Festival, which takes place from 31
October to 5 November.

“Galois. Story of a revolutionary mathematician” will be the first of
four films dedicated to science to be shown as part of the festival. The
movie was produced by SISSA and ICTP, in collaboration with the Simons
Center for Geometry and Physics (New York), Consorzio per la Fisica
(Trieste), Centro PRISTEM (Bocconi University, Milan) and Pilgrim Film.
The Italian première of this documentary film, which blends the
biographical and the creative, will be presented on Friday 27 October at
6.30pm at Trieste’s Ariston cinema.

The event is free and open to the public. Booking is recommended
(requests to be forwarded to segreteriadirezione at sissa.it). Please note
that the film is in Italian.
