*eTA for travelers to Canada mandatory as of 30th September 2016 *

We would like to inform you that the new entry requirement, known as an 
*Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)*, will become mandatory for 
visa-exempt foreign nationals – *Italian citizens *included - *traveling 
to or through Canada by air as of 30**th **September 2016*.

*Impact and info *

*Italian citizens have to apply for an eTA *prior to boarding a flight 
to Canada. If a valid document is not provided at check-in, *it is 
possible that boarding will be denied*.

To obtain the eTA you need *a valid passport, a credit card, an e-mail 
address and the payment of seven Canadian dollars*.

The authorization is electronically linked to a traveler’s passport and 
is *valid for five years *or until passport expiration, whichever comes 
first.

Entry requirements for other methods of travel (land, sea) will not change.

*The travellers are encouraged to: *

*Apply for an eTA online *prior to 15th March 2016.

*proper identification and travel documents *which must still be 
presented at the border.
