eTA for travelers to Canada mandatory as of
30th September 2016
We
would like to inform you that the new entry requirement,
known as an
Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), will become
mandatory for visa-exempt foreign nationals –
Italian citizens included - traveling to or
through Canada by air as of 30th
September
2016.
Impact
and info
Italian
citizens have to apply for an eTA
prior
to boarding a flight to Canada. If a valid document is not
provided at check-in,
it is possible that boarding will be denied.
To
obtain the eTA you need
a valid passport, a credit card, an e-mail address and
the payment of seven Canadian dollars.
The
authorization is electronically linked to a traveler’s
passport and is
valid for five years or until passport expiration,
whichever comes first.
Entry
requirements for other methods of travel (land, sea) will
not change.
The
travellers are encouraged to:
Apply for an eTA
online
prior
to 15th March 2016.

Bring with you
(also
those who do not have to apply for an eTA)
proper identification and travel documents which
must still be presented at the border.
