*SPECIAL EVENT: "LA BARCOLANA" REGATTA on Sunday, 13 October*

*This coming Sunday, the most famous sailing regatta in the 
Mediterranean Sea, **the "Barcolana", **will take place in the Gulf of 
Trieste. It will begin at 10 a.m. in the area around Grignano and the 
Castle of Miramare. *
Piazza Unita' is the place to be as Trieste will be full of action and 
thousands of tourists, sailing fans, sports journalists, sponsors, etc., 
will crowd the town. There are already these days many kiosks, side 
events, live music in Piazza Unità, food stands on the sea promenade in 
front of Piazza Unità, and stalls to shop for sailing products, clothes,

*Art Exhibitions*

At the *MIB SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT of TRIESTE *in Largo Caduti di 
Nassiriya, 1, Ferdinandeo),**solo show*"La buona novella" *(Good news) 
by*artist Patrizia Bigarella. *The artist presents paintings, sculptures 
and engravings of extraordinary quality. Open until 12 November. Guided 
tours by the artist on Mondays and Tuesdays from 16.30 - 19.00.For info

At the *ONE GALLERY *downtown in via S. Nicolo' 1, last few days to see 
*"The essential poetry", *an exhibition with over 60 artworks by 
late*Luigi Spacal, *renowned artist of the city*. *Open until 13 
October; open 10-12.30 / 16.30-19.30. Not to be missed.

At *LUX Art Gallery* in via Rittmeyer 7/A, Trieste, *solo show* by 
painter *Paolo Cervi Kervischer* entitled "Per tutto l'oro al mondo" 
(For all the gold in the world). Open until 19/10. Closed on Wednesdays 
& Sundays; open other days: 17-20.

*Book presentations in Italian *

On*Thurs 10/10 at 17.30: Talk *by*psychologist Dr D. Bonelli* on "Our 
internal world and its ignored resources. The value of emotions and 
imagination in solving problems."

On*Sat 12/10 at 18.00: Presentation *by experts *S. Berginc and P. 
Segulin**on **META-Medicine**,^a revolutionary integrative approach to 
understanding the stress based root cause, the psychological meaning and 
biological process of any illness.*

These talks will be held downtown, at the 'Libreria del centro BORSATTI' 
bookstore, in via Ponchielli 3, Trieste. Free entrance.

*British Film Club: 9 movies this season*

This season the British Film Club offers nine films with the original 
English sound-track, to be shown at the Ariston Cinema, Viale Romolo 
Gessi 14 (Buses 8 & 15 from Roiano or the train station). **

Membershipcards are available at the Alpha Studio Travel Agency, in Via 
San Nicolò 19 (first floor -- above the Swatch shop, opposite Bar 
Ferrari), until Thursday 31^st October 2013, at the following times: 
Mondays to Fridays, from 10.00 - 12.00 / 16.00 to 18.00. This will save 
queueing at the Ariston Cinema. The annual subscription fee is only

and sing Argentinian music "De Norte a sur" in this typcial Triestine

- The Acquamarina thermal pool (towards the end of the seafront, close 
to the Ausonia bathing establishment) at Molo f.lli Bandiera 1, 
Trieste,is equipped with a swimming pool, jacuzzi tubs, saunas, a 
fitness and massage centre and a lot more. The pool has salt water at a 
temperature of 30-32 degrees and is therapeutic for whomever suffers 
from pains, sprains and else. There are acquagym and other courses 
organized in the evenings. It is open to the public for swimming only, 
but timetables can be awkwardas on Mon, Wed & Fri it's open from 7.40 - 
13.00; Tue & Thur from 10.20 -13.00 & from 15.40 - 17.00;Sat 7.40 - 
13.00; Sun 7.40 - 11.40. Tickets cost euro 6,60/head for the pool only - 
one is allowed to stay in the pool for 80 minutes -, if you include 
jacuzzi with pool, it costs euro 9,10.

During the cold season, water may not be provided but the neighbouring 
thermal pool is equipped with a cafeteria and toilets, in case.

*TOURING THIS AREA*

*GUIDED TOUR OF TRIESTE*every day at 10.30 a.m.: A 2 hours guided 
walking tour through the main sites and monuments of Trieste. The tour 
is in Italian and English and costs euro 7/pers. Book your tour by

*VAL ROSANDRA: Nature lovers will enjoy its beauty *

The Val Rosandra Valley encloses a remarkable natural environment which 
reveals its true beauty in autumn. It is situated half an hour by bus 
from the city centre. There are several hiking routes from easy to 
not-so-easy, an old railway station that once connected Trieste to 
Vienna in the past centuries, now converted into a cycling path. There 
is a stream, a Roman aqueduct, a restaurant and rock climbers enoy 
training there.

Take bus 40 from the train station (it goes to Dolina) and get off in 
strada della Rosandra.

*The Civico Museo Sartorio is a Villa *that**once belonged to the 
Sartorio dynasty originally from Sanremo. A branch of the family moved 
in 1775 to Trieste as part of its business expansion. Pietro Sartorio 
here with his family and bought the house, previously owned by the 
merchant family Faraon, originary from Alexandria of Egypt. The last 
heir of the Sartorio family, Baroness Anna Segrè Sartorio, left the 
villa and all its furniture to Trieste's city council with the explicit 
wish to make it a public museum.

The villa was used by the Allies, as their headquarter after WW2, as can 
be seen by the marks on the tiles and walls where the telephone and 
electric leads were brought through. Besides the villa itself being a 
very interesting building architecturally, it contains drawings of 
famous XVII century artists Giambattista Tiepolo. It presently hosts an 
art exhibition of paintings by Giuseppe Bernardino BISON (1762 - 1844) 
until 13th October. Open Tue-Sun from 10.00 - 18.00. Entrance ticket: 
euro 6.

*The Castle of Duino*is one of the most attractive castles in Europe and 
is still the official residence of the Torre e Tasso royal family. From 
its cliff top location it overlooks a small fishing village and is 
surrounded by extensive gardens. Inside, you can see the furnishings, 
pictures, books and mementoes collected over centuries, visit its 
beautiful park and the World War 2 bunker.Visiting time 9:30 - 17:30. 
Always closed on Tuesdays. Take bus 51 (the airport bus). Ticket price 
for ICTP visitors: Euro 5.Extra visit of the "Old Castle" and the Dama

The *Giant Cave - Grotta Gigante*is considered the largest tourist cave 
in the world, situated in

the Triestine Karst (Carso), half an hour from the city center. An 
exclusive feature of the cave is the horizontal pendulum, constructed by 
university researchers in order to calculate the slightest movements of 
the earth's crust. Visiting times every hour: 10:00 - 18:00. Each visit 
lasts for one hour. Entrance ticket:Euro 11/each. For groups of over 15 
persons: Euro 5/head. Take bus 42 from Piazza Oberdan and get off at 
Borgo Grotta, Sgonico -- proceed by foot for 5 minutes -- follow road 
sign for Grotta Gigante. Wear comfortable shoes, no heels. Check

The *Science Centre Laboratorio dell'Immaginario at the Adriatico 
Guesthouse, *(Grignano), is an interactive and multimedial *museum*. It 
has interesting experiments and videos and more. It hosts exhibitions, 
events and activities with the aim of spreading scientific and 
technological culture. There are special programs for children each 
month. Open January to May and October to December only on Sundays from
