*Photography exhibit "Kaningpong" by Gianni Plossi at the KNULP Cultural 
centre and Cafeteria*(in via Madonna del Mare, 7a, in the old city near 
Cavana). There are photos on Darjeeling, buhhist monasteries focussing 
on one specific monastery where youngsters have the chance to live in a 
better manner. Open until 12/12, 10-23.

*Photography exhibit at STUDIO TOMMASEO*(via del Monte 2/1, close to 
Corso Italia) by outstanding eclectic Polish artist, writer, 
photographer, philosopher, poet *Stanislaw Ignacy Witkiewicz* 
(1885-1939) withportraits of Arthur Rubenstein and the great Polish

*Christmas Street Markets downtown*

*Traditional French Christmas market stalls are open until 1st Dec. in 
Piazza Sant'Antonio*, Trieste becomes  typical French village. On sale: 
French foods, wines and other products.

*From 1st - 8th Dec, there will be the traditional San Nicolo' market 
*in Viale XX settembre with many stalls selling foods, plants, 
beverages, toys, clothes, X'mas goodies, etc.

*The Revoltella Modern Art Museum is *located downtown; it was**founded 
in Trieste <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trieste>in 1872 
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1872>by Baron Pasquale Revoltella 
<http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Pasquale_Revoltella&action=edit&redlink=1>who 
left his house to the city (located in Piazza Venezia) after he passed 
away. It still displays all the art works, furniture and books of his 
time. The main building was built in 1858, designed by Friedrich Hitzig 
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friedrich_Hitzig>and later on, in 1907 the 
City acquired the Brunner Building located nearby in order to expand the 
original collection. This building has been completely utilized only

*Risiera di San Sabba*is a former rice-husking facility that was built 
in 1913. After September 8, 1943, the Nazi occupation forces used the 
premises as prison camp, headquarters where deported prisoners were 
sorted out to be sent to Germany and Poland, raided goods depot, prison 
and extermination camp for hostages, partisans, political and Jewish 
prisoners. On April 4, 1944 a crematory plant was installed and made 
operative. In 1965, a decree issued by the President of the Republic 
raised the "Risiera di San Sabba" to the status of National Monument. 
Free entry. Open daily from 9.00 - 19.00. Take bus 8 from the train

*Visit the Oriental Art Museum *in Palazzetto Leo in via San Sebastiano, 
1 (near Piazza Unita') there are many oriental items, paintings, 
furniture, porcelains that have been collected by our seafaring 
ancestors here in Trieste.It is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays, from

The *Giant Cave - Grotta Gigante*is considered the largest tourist cave 
in the world, situated in the Karst half an hour from the city centre. 
An exclusive feature of the cave is the horizontal pendulum, constructed 
by university researchers in order to calculate the slightest movements 
of the earth's crust. Visiting times every hour: 10:00 - 18:00. Each 
visit lasts one hour. Entrance ticket:Euro 11/each. For groups of over 
15 persons: Euro 5/head. Take bus 42 from Piazza Oberdan and get off at 
Borgo Grotta, Sgonico -- proceed by foot for 5 minutes -- follow road 
sign for Grotta Gigante. Wear comfortable shoes, no heels. Check
