*ART EXHIBITIONS*


  Winckelmann and the Art of ancient Egypt (Winckelmann e l'arte presso
  gli egizi), Civico Museo di Storia ed Arte - Orto Lapidario, Piazza
  della Cattedrale 1 (next to the Castle of San Giusto). It is one of
  the best collections in Italy after those in Turin, Florence, Bologna
  and Milan. It has over 1000 findings. Ongoing until 15/11. Open

At *Café' Stella Polare* (in via Dante 14): Painting exhibition by 
Triestine artist *Furio Bomben *with works dedicated to typical 
Triestine panoramas (the karst, the gulf, houses, alleys). His unique 
technique is a mixture of pencil, Indian ink and tempera colours.

Unità) Photography exhibit by *Massimo Goina, 'Glances on Jazz' *(Gli

Visit *Magazzino 26*: Exhibit on *Nereo Rocco. La leggenda del Paron* 
(Nereo Rocco. The legend of the boss). This is all about Trieste's great 
soccer player Nereo Rocco (1912-1979), who became a national soccer star 
and later on, a skilled coach. On display pictures, documents, personal 
belongings and photos of the people he met during his career, another 
side of the history of Italy. The exhibit is on until 31st July.

*"Lights and Sounds" at 21.30 *in *Piazza Venezia* (two minutes walk 
from Piazza Unita'): The Imperial dream of Maximilian of Habsburg, from 
Miramare to Mexico, a new version of the show on the Miramare Castle 
with illustrations, music and sound effects, will tell the sad and 
unfortunate story of Maximilian of Habsburg, Archduke of Austria and 
Emperor of Mexico and his wife, Carlotta from Belgium. Now showing every 
Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday evening until 18/8. The show is free of

*Sagra de la Sardela (The Sardine feast) *at the sports field in* *Via 
delle Campanelle 300, Trieste*. *Open from Thursdays to Sundays in the

The Friuli Venezia Giulia* TOURIST POINT *at the corner of Piazza Unità 
organizes* guided walking tours (in Italian and English) every day at 
10:30*. On _Saturday 28/7_, _there is an additional tour at 16.30_ on 
Trieste's literarary route, that lasts 2 hours and costs euro 5/head. 
There is also the possibility of visiting the city by yourself with an

*Botanical Gardens in via Marchesetti, 2 - Trieste*

During the weekends of July and August: A guided paleontological tour at 
the botanical gardens in Via Marchesetti 2, from 10:00 to 12:00. Observe 
the oldest Karst rocks and fossils (approx. 125 millions years ago, down 
to "only" 40 millions years) and "Antonio", the famous dinosaur 
(Tethyshadros insularis) whose entire original fossil skeleton is 
preserved and visible at the Civic Museum of Natural History in Trieste 
(Via Tominz, 4). Take bus 25 from Piazza della Borsa downtown. For info:
