Special Event at ICTP on Sat 23 Oct: Inauguration of the XXVth edition
of the Latin American Film Festival at the Leonardo Building at 20:00,
presentation by Rodrigo Diaz, director of the film festival and
projection of the film "La Balena di Rossellini" by Claudia Bondi at

CLASSICAL MUSIC*
*The Tartini Music Conservatory offers a series of free concerts every
Wednesday at 20:30. Forthcoming concert on Wed 20 Oct: XIV International
Piano Prize "Stefano Marizza", the winner's concert. On the occasion of
the "Festival jazz & Wine of Peace 2010", there will be a piano jazz
recital performed by Keith Tippett on Monday 25 Oct at the Tartini at
20:30. *The Conservatory is situated in* *via Ghega 12, close to the
Central Train Station. You must book your place by calling the
Conservatory the day before each concert preferably in the morning (tel:
040 6724911) (i.e. Tuesday). Please be there 15 minutes before the show.

The Verdi Theatre offers *is a 50% reduction on tickets purchased "last
minute" (one hour before the show) for all performances directly at the

for the Sat afternoon performances young people under 26 can purchase

and orchestra with music by Chopin with pianist Mikhail Liftis from

"Marinella", music by Giuseppe Sinico, inspired by the novel of Victor

ART EXHIBITION*
*Inauguration of a new exhibition and ongoing until 21 Nov: "Le Mille
Storie di Sir Richard Burton" (1821 - 1890) *dedicated to the figure of
this British diplomat, an expert traveller and orientalist of his time
and famous for his translation of the "Thousand and One Nights" into
English. The exhibition covers his works and life with a special
attention to 18 years spent in Trieste as the British Consul. There will
be a video film produced especially on this occasion. The Sartorio
Museum is also worth visiting as it is an ancient historic dwelling with
important art collections and beautiful furniture recalling the lives of
nobles and rich merchants living in this city during the past centuries.
Opening times Tues - Sun 9:00 - 13:00 and Wednesdays also in the
afternoon 15:00 - 19:00. The Museum is situated in Largo Papa Giovanni

Miramare Castle Special: *On the occasion of the 150 anniversary of the
Castle, every last Tuesday of the month of Oct (26), Nov (23) and Dec
(28) the Castle will be open to visitors at night from 19:00 - 23:00
with free entrance and free guided tours to the art Exhibition Il Bacio
by Francesco Hayez (at 19:00, 20:00, 21:00 and 22:00).* Every Sunday
there are free-guided tours of the Park (in Italian) 11:30 and 15:30*.

Cavour & Trieste at the San Giusto Castle ongoing until June 2011
(*Piazza della Cattedrale 3, bus 24 from Train Station). The exhibition
highlights the special relationship Cavour had with the city of Trieste,
his stay in 1836, and the political and economic importance of the city
used as a model for Europe's modernization in the 19th century. Entrance
ticket euro 5 (opening times in October 9 - 19 and Nov - March 9:00 -

Mirò, "Il Poeta del Colore" *(the poet of colours) ongoing until 7
November at the Scuderie di Miramare (ex-horse stables of the Miramare
Castle close to the main entrance gate). The exhibition is a collection
of Mirò's art prints, lithographs, watercolours combined with poetic
verses by the artist himself. Open from Tues - Sun 10:00 - 18:30.

*A botanical excursion along the Rilke Path on Sunday 24 Oct* organized
by the Area Marina Protetta Miramare and the municipality of
Duino-Aurisina. The meeting point is at the IAT Sisitiana, departure at

"La Landa Carsica",* an excursion to Monte Cocusso in the Val Rosandra
Natural Reserve Park on Sunday 24 Oct (3 hours approximately). Meeting
point in Pesek at 9:15 at the Hotel Pesek. The guided tour will be
centered on the ecology and environment of the area with special focus
on the history and production of honey and cheese. The tour is organized
by the associazione "Curiosi di Natura". Booking is necessary. Please

relationship between cinema and sea. The venue is at the Salone degli
Incanti on the Rive after Piazza Unità. All films are free and start at

23 Oct "Wind - Piu' Forte del Vento" (1992) by Francis Ford Coppola
centered on the America Cup. There are also free guided tours in Italian
