Trieste top Italian city with the finest quality of life

Following the articles issued in December on Trieste's high quality of
life, below are some of the ratings listed as follows:

GNP/capita, 13th place.
Savings in banks: 1st place, with an average 33.126 euro per account. In
Trieste there are more banks than groceries!
Cost of housing: 54th position, average cost is 2.150 euro/sq. mt.
Spirit of initiative (commercial): last place (possibly due to the high
percentage of elderly citizens).
Micro criminality: down at position 104, i.e., almost at the bottom. So
beware of pickpockets on the beach.
On the other side, Trieste is faring well with little "serious" crimes.
Youngsters in conflict with the law: 98th place.
House burglary: 51st place. Here, Trieste in the Italian average.
Infrastructures (public organization and services): 1st place
Speed of Tribunals: 5th place. Court cases are processed much quicker
here than in most of Italy.
Density of living: 105th rank. Trieste has 1.116 person/sq/km., against
the Italian average of 246/sq.km. In Naples, the density is 2.625, and
in Milan 1.980 persons/sq. km.
Age profile/relationship between young and old citizens: 107th rank,
with the proportion being 0.396. Average for Italy is 0.783.
Purchase of books: 7th place.
Culture/shows (number in relationship to number of citizens): 2nd place,
after Rimini, before Florence.
Number of bars/restaurants: 20th place, with 574 such places in Trieste.
Exercising of sports (portion of citizen doing sports): 6th place.

Trieste is the best place for the elderly and has the highest proportion
of senior citizens, offering many restaurants/bars and cultural
events/concerts, and the average population is well to do. The high
proportion of elderly citizens makes Trieste less entrepreneurial than
average, it is difficult for young people to find opportunities. It is a
beautiful and charming city, where people generally do a lot of sports,
like walks in the woods, hiking, running, swimming, cycling,
wind-surfing, winter sports are available just an hour away in snow-clad
mountains, canoeing, fitness and much more.

It sure is a privilege to live here despite the occasional fury of the
bora!
