NOTICE TO ALL SCIENTISTS AND STAFF - 2010 CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR
FESTIVITIES

Please note that, on the occasion of the forthcoming Festivities, the
Centre will be closed from Friday 24 December 2010 to Sunday 9 January
January 2011 inclusive.  ICTP Staff will not be on duty during this period.

In order to facilitate the closure of the buildings, all Scientists and
Staff are kindly requested to leave the premises no later than 18:00
hrs. on Thursday, 23 December and ensure that all the electrical
equipment in their offices is switched off.
Scientists and Staff members are also kindly requested to free as much
as possible their desks and windowsills due to major cleaning works
during the closure period.
In order to carry out periodical and extraordinary maintenance works
during this period, the following will apply:

ICTP's Leonardo Building , E. Fermi Building, the Adriatico guesthouse
and the MLab will be closed for the whole period, i.e., from Friday 24
December to 9 January 2011 inclusive. No heating will be provided.

At the LEONARDO BUILDING  the electricity supply will be totally
interrupted on Friday 24 December (morning only).
On 6 January 2011 it will be FORBIDDEN THE WHOLE DAY to enter the
building due to disinfestation operations.
In case of emergencies, the Security Guards may be contacted at tel: 040
2240606.

The FERMI BUILDING will be shut from Friday 24 December to 9 January
2011 inclusive.
It will be completely off limits from 27 December to 31 December for floor
polishing and
waxing operations. The electricity supply will be totally
interrupted on Friday 24 December (morning only)
Everybody is kindly requested to remove papers, files,objects, etc.,
placed on the floor in order to avoid damages to the same.
On 6 January 2011 it will be FORBIDDEN THE WHOLE DAY to enter the
building due to disinfestation operations.

The ADRIATICO GUESTHOUSE will be closed from Friday 24 December to 9
January 2011 inclusive.

The GALILEO GUESTHOUSE will stay open during the whole festivities
period. Some areas and facilities will be made available for the diploma
students and  scientists who wish to continue their work . The Galileo
Reception can be contacted for any emergency at tel: 040 2240113

The MLaboratory will be completely off limits from 24/12/2010  to 9/1/2011.

COMMUNICATIONS AND IT EQUIPMENT at ICTP
Essential services such as email, webmail, the ICTP Web main page, Online
application
and telephone system will be operational for the whole period and
accessible from both within and outside ICTP's premises.
Maintenance activities are planned during the period between December
27th and January 10th. The final plans will be confirmed in the last
days before Christmas.
All other services, such as web sites (excluding the main web page),
the portal servers, remote login (SSH),storage servers, computational
servers (include LSF cluster, clp4-x,amd64-x),
could be unavailable from 24 December to 9 January 2010 inclusive for
a limited number of days.

The unavailability will be communicated in advance.


CAFETERIAS AND BARS
Leonardo Bldg Cafeteria and Bar: Closed from Thursday 23 December after
lunch until
9 January 2011 inclusive.  On 23 December only lunch will be available at
the LB Cafeteria.

Adriatico Guesthouse Cafeteria and Bar
Closed from Tuesday 21/12/2010 until 9/1/2011 inclusive.
The AGH Bar will be open until Thursday 23 December, regular schedule,
from  8.00 to 14.00 and will be closed from 24/12 until 9/1/2011 inclusive.

The LIBRARY will close at 17.00 on 24 December 2010 and reopen on 10
January 2011.

The UNICREDIT BANK at the Enrico Fermi building will be open on 24/12
from 8.30 - 10.30 after which it will be closed until 9 January 2011
inclusive.
In case of need, the Unicredit Bank branch 13 at Barcola will be open
during this period excluding 25, 26 December 2010 and 1,2 and 6 January
2011. On 31 December 2010 open from 08.30-12.45.

The TRAVEL AGENCY Carlson Wagonlit Co. at the Fermi Building will be
closed from 24 December 2010 to 9 January 2011 inclusive.

The Allianz INSURANCE Company at the Fermi Building will be
closed from 24 December 2010 to  9 January 2011 inclusive.
If necessary, you can go to their downtown office in via Locchi 19/A
tel. 040 312400 during this  period. Closed 25-26 of December 2010 and
closed 1- 2 - 6 January 2011.

The MEDICAL SERVICES  will be closed from 24 December 2010 to 9
January 2011 inclusive. For urgent cases the Galileo Guest House
Reception may be contacted (tel. 040-2240113).

The POSTAL SERVICES will be shut from 24 December 2010 to 9 January 2011.
For  shipments, the Mail Office in Barcola will be open during the whole
period excluding Christmas and New Year days while the Grignano post
office (near the Church) will be open only from 1-15 January 2011, from
8.30 to 13.30.

All services will be resumed on Monday, 10 January 2011.
