*SATURDAY 4 September : AQUILEIA and GRADO TRIP
FOR ICTP SCIENTISTS AND VISITORS*

On Saturday 4 September, *there will be a special guided tour by coach
to AQUILEIA and GRADO (about 45 km from Trieste)* *with an
English-speaking guide.*

*AQUILEIA* is one of the most interesting sites in the Region, an
ancient marshland settlement, with a 700-year Roman period dating back
to 181 B.C. There are old Roman mosaics in the basilica and Roman ruins
spread out in a lovely landscape.

Following the tour of Aquileia, you will stop in *Grado* - a fishermen's
village, now a small town, built on a lagoon with many historical
connections with Aquileia and Venice. You may visit its historical
centre, the basilica and Roman remains. It is a well-known SPA centre
all year round and a beach resort in summer with many sandy beaches. For
those who wish to have a swim, we remind you to take your bathing
costume and a towel. You may also like to wander around the old city and
do some shopping or have a snack before leaving. There are many snack
bars and ice-cream parlours as well.

//
*The discounted contribution requested for the tour is only 5,00 euro**
/head - payable when you sign up*.

/
Recommendation: Wear comfortable shoes/sandals and a cap as it may
be hot while you visit Aquileia. A small bottle of drinking water may
also be useful./

*MEETING POINT* at 13.45 near Bus stop 6 in Grignano seaside where
you'll see the coach and meet your guide
