On Saturday 22nd August, there will be a special guided tour by coach
only for ICTP visitors and families to AQUILEIA and GRADO (about 45 km
from Trieste) *with an English-speaking guide.*

*AQUILEIA* is one of the most interesting sites in the Region, an
ancient marshland settlement, with a 700-year Roman period dating back
to 181 B.C. There are old Roman mosaics in the basilica and old Roman
ruins spread out in a lovely landscape.

The discounted contribution requested for the tour is only *5,00 euro*
/head - payable when you sign up - with an optional extra 2.50 euro/head
entrance if you want to visit the crypt on the day of the trip.

*Following the tour of Aquileia, you will stop in Grado* - a fishermen's
village, now a small town, built on a lagoon with many historical
connections with Aquileia and Venice. You may visit its historical
centre, the basilica and Roman remains. It is a well-known SPA centre
all year round and a beach resort in summer with many sandy beaches.
For those who wish to have a swim, we remind you to take your bathing
costume and a towel. You may also like to wander around the old city and
do some shopping or have a snack before leaving. There are many snack
bars and ice cream parlours as well.

/Recommendation: Wear comfortable shoes/sandals and a cap as it may
be hot while you visit Aquileia. A small bottle of drinking water may
also be useful./

*MEETING POINT* at 13.50 p.m near bus stop 6 in Grignano seaside where
you'll see the coach and meet your guide Ms Paola Alzetta

*DEPARTURE TIME* is fixed at 14:00 and return to Grignano at around 20:00.
