Open Day 2006 - Thank You

TO ALL SCIENTISTS, STAFF, CONSULTANTS

OPEN DAY 2006  - SATURDAY 16 SEPTEMBER

Dear All.

On this, the day after, I would like to thank all of you who worked 
hard before, during and after Saturday for having made also this second 
Open Day a great success.

The Open Day was a welcome occasion for the estimated 3.000 visitors 
from the local area to learn more about the excellent scientific work 
that is done here, to have an impression of the organization and the 
persons working here, the mission and activities of ICTP, all in a good 
atmosphere for everybody.

Besides an interesting programme with a variety of special guests, 
talks, conferences, stands, experiments, movies, guided tours, 
exhibitions, music etc, we also had T-shirts , balloons, ethnic food, 
drinks, coffee, .....and, not forgetting, a lot of good conversations 
and fun.

Even if the number of visitors, due to the weather forecasts and 
conditions, was a little less than expected, we can conclude that Open 
Day 2006 was an important and successful event for the ICTP and the 
other participating institutions.

Roberto Cosolini, assessore alla Ricerca del Friuli Venezia Giulia, 
today has sent out the following message : "Sono molto soddisfatto del 
successo di partecipazione che ha contraddistinto questo straordinario 
Open Day dell'ICTP, in particolare della vasta presenza di giovani e di 
giovanissimi che, almeno in questa occasione, hanno la possibilità di 
avvicinarsi ad una delle più grandi risorse e peculiarità di Trieste e 
di tutto il Friuli Venezia Giulia, la scienza". 
Per Cosolini la realtà scientifica regionale è una risorsa inestimabile 
ma ancora poco conosciuta. "La qualità della ricerca e la sua 
internazionalità garantiscono a Trieste una proiezione mondiale ed una 
possibilità di crescita forse unica per l'economia locale".

So, again, thank you for your important involvement and active 
participation, without which, there could have been no Open Day.

Furthermore, I would like to take this occasion to invite you to submit 
to susanne at ictp.it any comments, observations or proposals regarding 
the Open Day in order to make the next event even better.
