Free-time activities
A R T & E X H I B I T I O N S
A new website has just been inaugurated, which gives details of all
museums in Trieste and the surrounding region:

Two exhibitions are on at the Museo Revoltella (via Diaz 27). The
first, ongoing until 30 October is by Odinea Pamici entitled "Folie
Bourgeoise", and the other is "Glassdressing", an exhibition of glass
jewels, which you can visit until 20 November. More information on

Exhibition entitled "Opere su carta" dedicated to three local artists
(Edo Murtic, Zoran Music and Miela Reina) is open until 28 October 2006
from 10-13 and 16-19:30 (Monday 16-19:30 only) in Galleria Torbandena,
via Tor Bandena, 1. There is also an exhibition there called "One
Black Show", focusing on the use of the colour black in contemporary

An exhibition dedicated to all things feline: "Un adorabile 4 zampe", a
collection of photos, paintings and objects will be on display until 11
November at the "Le Amebe" gallery in via Bramante, 1.
Exhibition to celebrate 100 years since the opening of the historic
Transalpina railway line is open until 31 December in the railway
museum (Museo Ferroviario - via Giulio Cesare, 1). Open Wednesday,
Saturday and Sunday from 9-13.
Exhibition entitled "Gli orologi di Miramare" open 9:00-18:00 every day
in Miramare Castle until 31/1/2007, with a collection of Hapsburg
timepieces on display in the various rooms of the Castle.
Tango is the name of the exhibition by the artist Piero Toresella on
display until 31/10/2006 at the Galleria Perizzi in via San Nicolo' 32.
Daily from 9-12.30 and 15.30-19.30.
Exhibition entitled "Gioielli del Mare" is on show at the Aquario
Marino on the Molo Pescheria in Trieste. Every day, except Monday,
from 9-19 until 29 October.
Ongoing Exhibition at Duino Castle on China. On display at weekends
during the Castle's opening hours until 12 November. More information

A photographic exhibition entitled Trieste e le Navi Bianche is taking
place at the Civico Museo del Mare in via di Campo Marzio, 5. From
Tuesday to Sunday until 7 January 2007 from 8.30-13.30, you can see a
collection of photographs on the history of cruise ships in the port of
Trieste.
Regate nel golfo is the title of the exhibition of paintings with a
sailing theme by Federico Fumulo in the Bar Ferrari in via San Nicolo'
until 31/10/2006.
C H I L D R E N's A C T I V I T I E S
L'Immaginario Scientifico
This science museum (located on the ground floor level of the Adriatico
Hotel, entrance at the rear of the hotel, opposite the 36 bus stop) has
exhibits which are particularly suitable for children.
A children's laboratory will be held on Sunday from 15.45-16.45 for
those aged 4-7 and from 15:30-17:00 for 8-11 year olds. This week both
groups will be working with fossils. You can book by e-mail at

A N T I Q U E F A I R
From 28/10-5/11, there will be the annual Trieste Antiqua (Antique
Fair) at the Stazione Marittima on the waterfront in Trieste town
centre (just after Piazza Unita, almost opposite the Savoia Excelsior
Hotel). Open weekdays from 15-20 and on Sunday and festivities from
10:00-20:00. Entrance costs 8 Euro (6 Euro concessions). More

Teatro Miela
Until 29 October 2006, the Latin American Film Festival is taking
place. The full programme of events is available on the site:

N A T U R E
Orto Botanico - Botanical Garden
At the Civic Botanical Garden in via Marchesetti, 2 there is the
spectacular autumn display of over 200 varieties of sage from all over
the world in flower. Opening hours of the gardens are 9-13 from Monday
to Saturday. Entrance is 2 Euro. More information on 040-360068.

Trieste by Train - Last weekend!
The "Rondo'" historical train which tours Trieste and the surrounding
hills on the old railway lines is running for the last time this year
on Sunday 29 October. Trains leave Campo Marzio station at 9:45 and
15, and the main Railway station at 11:53 and 17:10. The journey lasts
about 1 hour and twenty minutes. Tickets cost 8 Euro for a single, 12
Euro for a return.
Trieste by Bus
Every Saturday a bus leaves for a tour of Trieste from in front of the
train station at 14.00. It takes in all of the main sights to see
downtown, and there is also a 30-minute stop at St. Giusto Castle,
where you can walk along the Castle walls or visit the Cathedral or
simply enjoy the spectacular views. Tickets may be bought in the Sala
Eurostar in the main railway station and cost 5.20 Euro, with children
under 10 travelling free.
Trieste by Boat
There is still a boat trips operating locally. You can travel from the
Molo Pescheria to Muggia and visit the Istro-Venetian fishing village.
Take advantage of the good weather which is forecast to admire Trieste
