Free-time activities
A R T & E X H I B I T I O N S
Art Exhibition "Histria" has been extended until 10 February 2006 at
the Revoltella Museum, via Diaz 27. More information on the exhibition
and also on the Museum's permanent collections on the website:
www.museorevoltella.it.
Exhibition of drawings by Leonor Fini, one of the greatest European
surrealist artists. The theme of the exhibition, entitled "...per i
gatti, adorati gatti" is cats. Open until 17/2/2006 from 10-13 and
17-21 in the Sala ex-albo Pretorio (piazza Piccolo, 3). All proceeds
will be donated to Il Gattile cattery in Trieste.
On Saturday 4 February, there will be the inauguration of the
exhibition of paintings by Pino Rasile entitled "Colori Sospesi", a
series of landscapes. Open until 5 March every day from 11.30-15 and
19-01, closed Sunday morning at "Le Maldrobrie" in via Malconton 4/C.
Ongoing until 30 April in via Carducci 12 is the exhibition entitled
"L'educazione spezzata" dedicated to the Jewish schools in Trieste and
Fiume during the period prior to the outbreak of the II World War.
Open Mon., Tue. and Thur. from 10.30-16.30, Wed. and Fri. from
8.30-14.30 and Sun. from 11.30-17.30. Guided tours of the exhibition

C H I L D R E N's A C T I V I T I E S
L'Immaginario Scientifico
This science museum (located on the ground floor level of the Adriatico
Hotel, entrance at the rear of the hotel, opposite the 36 bus stop) has
exhibits which are particularly suitable for children.
A children's laboratory will be held on Sunday from 15.45-16.45 for
those aged 4-7 and from 15:30-17:00 for 8-11 year olds. This Sunday,
both groups will be making drums. You can book by e-mail at

C U L T U R E
"Carrelas de Sardigna"
This weekend there will be a celebration of two days dedicated to the
music, dances, culture and traditions of Sardinia. On Saturday 4
February at 18:30 in the Casa della Musica in via Capitelli 3, there
will be the showing of a film of Sardinian music, followed at 20:30 by
an opportunity to taste typical local wines and a concert of
traditional music. On Sunday 5 February in the gymnasium of the "Dante
Alighieri" school in via Giustiniano 3 (near piazza Oberdan), from
10-18 there will be a day of traditional Sardinian folk dancing with
live music and courses teaching the basic dance steps. More

M U S I C
Classical Music Concert
On Friday 3 February at 17:15 in the Auditorium of the Revoltella
Museum (via Diaz 27), there will be a concert by the Australian pianist
Maureen Jones and cellist Enrico Bronzi of music by Mozart. Entrance
is free.
S P O R T
Ice-Skating
On Saturday 4 February an ice-skating rink will open at the Fiera
buildings in piazzale de Gasperi (bus 18 from piazza della Borsa).
Opening hours will be Monday-Friday 14-22 and Saturday and Sunday
10-22. The cost is 6 euro (including hire of skates) or 3 euro if you
take your own skates.
Bike Ride
On Saturday 4 February at 11.30 there will be a meeting of cyclists in
Piazza Unita' under the Town Hall, organized by the 'Ama Trieste'
Association (who will be lending bikes to those without) and the
'Ulisse Fiab' Association, to promote the use of bicycles in town.
Swimming
Trieste offers the following possibilities for swimmers. The new
structure in San Giovanni has a 25m pool as well as a 12m shallow one
for children and learners (via san Cilino 43/2, bus 6 from Barcola) is
slightly cheaper than the others and offers a whole range of courses as
well as a wellness centre with gymnasium, sauna and steam room.
Weekend opening hours are Sat 7.40-16.20 and Sun 7.40-13.00. The 50m
Bianchi pool is in passeggio S. Andrea (buses 8, 9, 15, 16 and 30). It
is open at weekends from 9-18 on Saturdays and 9-13 on Sundays. The

pool is at the end of the seafront (Molo Fratelli Bandiera, bus 8, 9)
and offers a thermal seawater pool, ideal for those recuperating from
injury. There is also a sauna and steam room. Swimming sessions are
restricted to 80 minutes at a time, starting at 7.40 on Saturday, last
entrance at 18.20, on Sunday from 7.40 with the last entry at 11.40.

Remember to take a swimming cap with you, as it is obligatory in all

T O U R S
Trieste by Bus
Every Saturday a bus leaves for a tour of Trieste from in front of the
train station at 14.00. It takes in all of the main sights to see
downtown, and there is also a 30-minute stop at St. Giusto Castle,
where you can walk along the Castle walls or visit the Cathedral or
simply enjoy the spectacular views. Tickets may be bought in the Sala
Eurostar in the main railway station and cost 5.20 Euro, with children
under 10 travelling free.
