Dear All,
Today, Thu. 18 June at 10:00 CET, Guilherme Fiusa (University of
Rochester, NY) and Pedro E. Harunari (Aix Marseille U.) will give a
seminar titled:
*"Stochastic excursions: from counting observables to inference"
_
_ *_Abstract:_
Understanding fluctuations of nonequilibrium observables across
stochastic trajectories is essential for various fields of research,
from quantum thermal machines to biological motors. We introduce a
framework to analyze the statistics of counting observables over the
recently introduced concept of stochastic excursions. Our approach
offers analytical expressions for currents, heat, entropy production,
and more, capturing their correlations and finite-time fluctuations. As
main results, we show how distinct noise sources contribute to
fluctuations, and prove a fluctuation theorem for excursions that
reveals a precision-dissipation trade-off. We illustrate how these
results provide new insights for the experimentally realized absorption
refrigerator. Lastly, we show how observing excursions can be used to
infer thermodynamic quantities, discussing their connection to
previously established methods.
_
The seminar will take place in the Common Area, 2nd floor, old SISSA
building (Via Beirut, 2)._
You are all most welcome to attend!
Best regards,
Erica
