        ERC Plus Grants competition opened

The ERC launched the first competition for the new ERC Plus Grants, a 
pilot funding scheme designed to support truly ambitious, transformative 
research in Europe. It is part of the EU 'Choose Europe' initiative.

        Leading researchers to identify future ERC Scientific Council
        members

New members of the ERC Identification Committee have been appointed by 
the European Commission. This independent committee is tasked with 
identifying future members of the ERC Scientific Council.

EURAXESS Africa and the ERC organise two webinars on ERC grants (one in

        29 June | Towards the European fifth freedom and global
        competition: Voices from science

The ERC and the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, together 
with partner academies from the Netherlands, Slovakia, Finland and 
Cyprus, are bringing together leading voices from science and 
policymaking to discuss the future of European R&I. Speakers, including 
Enrico Letta, Commissioner Ekaterina Zaharieva, President Maria Leptin, 
Leopoldina President Bettina Rockenbach, will discuss how Europe can 
maintain its scientific leadership, translate knowledge into innovation 
and competitiveness, and remain an attractive destination for the 
world's best researchers.
