    ERC publishes Work Programme 2027

On 20 July 2026 the European Research Council (ERC) has published the 
annual ERC work programme 2027.
The programme defines the funding modalities, the budget, the call 
periods and the rules for eligibility for the coming year. The document 
was drafted by the ERC and has now been officially adopted by the 
European Commission.
As announced in advance, the following modifications have been introduced:

    extended eligibility windows for Starting and Consolidator Grants
    (options for prolongation remain the same)
  *
    redefined restrictions on the resubmission of Synergy and Plus Grants

The distinction between the two B-sections of the proposal is 
maintained, with a 5-page Part I (B1) covering the research idea, 
concept and objectives, and a 7-page Part II (B2) focusing on 
implementation and methodology.
The first call for applications under the new work programme is the 
*Starting Grant 2027* call. It is planned to open on 22 July 2026 and 
*to close on 14 October 2026*, see page 10 of the Work programme for calls.
