        ERC grantee shares the Albert Lasker Award

ERC grantee Professor Dirk Görlich from the Max Planck Institute for 
Multidisciplinary Sciences in Göttingen and Professor Steven L. McKnight 
from UT Southwestern Medical Centre have been awarded the Albert Lasker 
Basic Medical Research Award.

        Observe ERC evaluation panels

The ERC is seeking independent observers with extensive knowledge and 
experience in scientific evaluation systems to assess the ERC procedures 
for evaluating grant applications. The work includes observing the 
evaluation sessions and subsequently providing views on the extent to 
which the procedures are fit for purpose and the way in which the 
evaluators apply the ERC selection criteria. Deadline for nomination: 20 
September 2025.

Recently adopted rules complementing the EU’s Digital Services Act mean 
better access for qualified researchers to online data gathered by very 
large platforms and search engines. This enables independent scrutiny of 
how online services impact society and gives researchers more power to
