        Choose Europe for Science: ERC ‘super grants’

The ERC Scientific Council welcomes the offer of substantial additional 
budget for the development of a new larger, longer-term ERC grant. This 
was announced by Commission President Ursula von der Leyen at the 
‘Choose Europe for Science’ conference at the Sorbonne, with President 
Emmanuel Macron.

        Disproportionate climate risk to children worldwide

A new study found that children of today are likely to be exposed 
significantly more to extreme climate events over their lifetime than 
previous generations – unless global greenhouse gas emissions are 
substantially reduced.

The European Commission has launched three consultations: two on the 
future European Strategy for AI in Science (a Call for Evidence, and a 
targeted survey for researchers and the broader research & innovation 
community) and one on the Apply AI strategy. Consultation deadlines: in 
the first week of June.
