European Holocaust Research Infrastructure becomes 30th
EU-Recognised Research Consortium: A major milestone in
        Holocaust studies

Today, the European Commission has granted the legal status of European
Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) to the European Holocaust
Research Infrastructure (EHRI), making EHRI the 30th ERIC established
since 2011. This recognition highlights EHRI's vital role in
safeguarding the historical record of the Holocaust and its ongoing
relevance to modern society.

*Ekaterina Zaharieva*, Commissioner for Startups, Research and
Innovation said:

"I warmly welcome the establishment of EHRI as an ERIC. As we
continue to drive innovation and excellence in European research,
EHRI's cutting-edge infrastructure and services plays a vital role
in promoting open access to historical data, fostering new centres
of excellence, and safeguarding Europe's shared heritage. I am
confident that EHRI will continue to inspire new generations of
researchers and scholars to explore the complexities of the
Holocaust and its impact on European society."

A tiny gland built from human cells can protect us from chemical
        dangers and reduce animal testing

The EU-funded SCREENED project created a model thyroid made of human
cells to provide more accurate testing, as well as reduce reliance on
animal studies.

New mandate, new agenda: Will the EU live up to its promises on R&I?

So as the EU institutions begin their deliberations on both the next
multi-year budget (2028-2034) and a successor to Horizon Europe (FP10),
how will Ms. von der Leyen’s rhetoric play out in reality? This question
lies at the heart of the 2025 Science|Business Annual Network Conference.

Space researchers build traffic light system to warn of
        dangerous solar storms

Researchers have created an improved traffic light system for predicting
geomagnetic storms. They are now testing how well these algorithms can
prepare us for incoming space storms that can wreak havoc by knocking
out satellites in space and power grids on Earth.
