        ERC President at the World Economic Forum, Davos

This week, the ERC brings science to the discussions at the WEF annual 
meeting in Davos. ERC President Maria Leptin speaks on research 
security, and on AI and science, as well as in an ERC session on 
European competitiveness with, e.g. two Nobel laureates, an ERC grantee 
in AI and the Belgian Prime Minister. Several other ERC grantees speak

        New Proof of Concept Grant winners announced

134 projects receive support in the final round of the 2024 ERC Proof of 
Concept Grant competition, bringing the total number of grants awarded 
in this call to 245 worth €36.75 million.

        Consolidator Grants applications on the rise

ERC received 3,121 applications, marking a 35% increase compared to the 
previous call and 46% increase compared to the 2023 call.

        Renowned Hungarian mathematician to join ERC Scientific Council

Mathematician András Stipsicz, Director of HUN-REN Alfréd Rényi 
Institute of Mathematics in Budapest, was appointed as a new member of 
the governing body of the ERC, the Scientific Council.
