*"Dark Matter Searches in the Lab, Across Energy Scales"*
*
*
_Abstract_
I will discuss the role that different energy scales play in our direct
searches for dark matter. In particular, I will discuss how, lowering
the masses one is interested in probing, it becomes mandatory to account
for new degrees of freedom: those typically belonging to low energy
physics. In this context, these degrees of freedom can be both a curse
and a blessing. I will argue that effective field theories for
spontaneously broken spacetime symmetries can be a crucial tool to
tackle the problem.

*"From Quantum Sensors to Demon Materials: New Directions for Light Dark
Matter Detection"*
*/
/*
_Abstract_
Dark matter is one of the biggest mysteries of modern day physics, yet
its identity remains unknown. In this talk, I will focus on light dark
matter, and present new proposals for its direct detection in the
laboratory that hold much promise. These include the use of
superconducting nanowires, two-dimensional targets such as graphene, and
unconventional materials with low-energy plasmons. Considering dark
matter interactions with these targets, I will demonstrate the potential
of the light dark matter direct detection program in upcoming years.
