Title: Computing the Heegaard Floer homology of a 3-manifold via Sarkar-Wang's "nice" diagrams

Abstract: Heegaard Floer homology is a collection of invariants for closed oriented 3-manifolds. They arise as the homology of a chain complex which can be defined from a Heegaard diagram presentation of the manifold under consideration, where the differentials count the number of points in certain moduli spaces of holomorphic disks. This is a very hard task in general, since it is not clear how such counting should be made in a generic Heegaard diagram. In this talk, I will present Sarkar-Wang's combinatorial reformulation of Heegaard Floer homology. They show that, given a closed oriented 3-manifold, this always admits a Heegaard diagram for which the Heegaard Floer homology differential has a purely combinatorial formula. Some simple examples will be also presented.
