Title: How to knot 2-spheres exotically.

Abstract: We will begin with a brief introduction to 4-dimensional knot theory where I will discuss the unknotting conjecture and exotic surfaces, that is, surfaces that are topologically isotopic but not smoothly so. Then I will describe a strategy to obtain exotic surfaces starting from suitable exotic 4-manifolds. Finally, we will take a tour through some recent results that have used this strategy.
