Reminder: Invitation to the MHPC DAY 2024, TODAY, 1 March at 14:30 in Budinich Lecture Hall - Addendum

Dear all,

We would like to remind you that MHPC DAY 2024 will be held TODAY, 1 
March, at 14:30 to celebrate the first 10 years of the Master in High 
Performance Computing. The event will take place at the Leonardo 
Building, Budinich Lecture Hall at 14:30.

After institutional greetings from the Directors of ICTP and SISSA and 
Dr. Ketty Segatti representing the Friuli Vedendumnezia Giulia Region, 
the afternoon will be dedicated to MHPC success stories, both from 
students and partners.

We are pleased to inform you that Prof. Dr. Thomas C. Schulthess, 
director of the Swiss Center for Scientific Computing and professor at 
ETH Zürich*, *will deliver a lectio magistralis entitled: 'Alps: A 
research infrastructure for science with extreme-scale data and 
computing needs'. In his presentation, Prof. Schulthess will explore how 
the 'Alps' infrastructure achieves this remarkable blend of performance 
and flexibility, showcasing its role in advancing computational science. 
He will also discuss the emerging opportunities presented to 
computational science by AI-designed processors.

The event will conclude with a discussion panel titled 'Training next 
generations of HPC experts' and an aperitif to celebrate. *
*Speakers involved in the discussion panel are:
